Sarah Ross, is our Quality Manager, and has been with the company for 12 years. Starting as an administrator in August 2011, Sarah has worked her way to her current role as a senior member of the team, ensuring the quality of our products are maintained at all times, in order to certify product standards. To celebrate International Women’s Day, we recently caught up with Sarah to shine the spotlight on her and get more insight in to her role. It’s also a great opportunity to pay tribute to her and her contribution to the company.
What is your current role and what does it entail?
I love my role as Glassflake Quality Manager. It’s a varied and challenging role which sees me deal with various tasks including regulatory enquiries, internal and external auditing, training, management of the organisations Quality Management System, and seeking improvements in processes.
Being a member of the BCA (EFfCI), I am able to attend numerous focus groups and meetings, to discuss topics such as REACH, cosmetic and Nano. These meetings enable me to gain access to upcoming new regulations, which is extremely useful when dealing with customers’ varying regulatory enquiries.
My key responsibility is to ensure product conformity to standards, to ensure that the laboratories are safe, clean and that all equipment is serviced and/or calibrated, and all team members are fully trained and able to carry out their roles to the best of their abilities.
Have you had any training to progress you in your career at Glassflake?
I have been given a number of opportunities to progress in my career. I feel the company is passionate about my continuous professional development, and I have continued to develop and evolve my skills in line with my role. Over the years I have gained the following certifications:
ISO 9001: Lead auditor 2021
ISO 9001 Internal auditor 2018
Quality Management Level 5 HND 2018
Quality Management Level 3 Certificate 2015
